what a wonderful day--not

Our office was assigned once again to organize a week-long training/seminar for beginning teachers (1-2 years of service) in science (elementary & high school). Here are some reasons why I'm pissed:

1) No budget: actually, the Department of Education promised that our expenses will be reimbursed. But we're feeling the burden already, what with the food, handouts, ID, printer ink, electricity, etc...on top of the price increase in fuel and electricity in the country.

2) Never ending registration: there's an increase in the number of participants per day. Many of them were not informed properly, while others were just a bit too opportunistic. What I meant about some participants being opportunistic is that they've attended the training about 3 weeks ago plus a handful of these teachers are not beginning teachers. By the way, registration and participation is free.

3) Some inconsiderate colleagues from the other departments: Okay, we're from the biology department...the training involves mentors from physics, chemistry, and earth science...many were cooperative and provided us with copies of their teaching materials for reproduction (yes, we're in-charge of that as well, to our chagrin), while some were too protective of their intellectual property. And when the participants complain about non-existent or late handouts, who are they to blame? Yes, you guessed it. I just hope that the reason why they behave like that is because they have NO IDEA how freaking stressed out and BROKE we all are in our side of this forsaken institution.
And being treated like a dirt-cheap slave by your own colleague is just undignified.

4) Never ending complaints, long days: the stress is concretizing in my face. I'm breaking out like there's no tomorrow! My face is slowly becoming a zit colony.

...and all I want to do right now is stay at home with my husband and son.

(Thanks to my husband for helping out this afternoon with the handout reproduction and other stuff)
