my goal

When students write notes on their final exams stating that they've learned to love the course you taught, how do you react?

Step 1: Feel enormously flattered
Step 2: Attribute the whole thing to the fact that you also love the course
Step 3: Immediately erase all forms of self-glorifying emotions
Step 4: Challenge yourself to maintain the passion for teaching

Normally, students who don't do well are uninspired. It's easy to recognize them. It's our job (as teachers) to encourage them to learn. And when these students show improvement, oh boy, that is more fulfilling than graduating summa cum laude.
