progesterone and hcg are downers
At long last, I'm expecting again. Yay.The first trimester hurling and heightened sense of smell are here. Boo.
I actually forgot how this felt like when I was expecting my son 6 years ago and I'm very much convinced that the surge of postpartum hormones, including those involved in lactation, sends chemical messages to my pituitary gland (which is very close to my memory and feeling centers in my brain), wipe out all the files on queasiness and frequent trips to the comfort room and lack of sleep for 36-40 weeks.
I would just like to say that although 9 months is supposed to be the well-known gestational period...the truth of the matter is that pregnancy is for 36-40 weeks! That's 9-10 months! Another thing I'd like to point out is that strictly speaking, if we were to consider the amount of time we've been alive, we should include the extra 9-10 months we spent inside our mothers.
And the steady increase of progesterone in my system is causing some major physiological changes and mood alterations. I've been told that I'm not as cheerful as usual. The thing is, try to muster all your will power to prevent hurling during inappropriate times of the day particularly at work...or mid-lecture...and tell me if that doesn't strain your smiley muscles.
And everybody seems to walk too fast these days.
And there seems to be a marked shortage in oxygen in the atmosphere.
And rubbing alcohol smells like gasoline.
And anything on a frying pan makes me want to sleep in the toilet.
And I suddenly want to watch musicals starring straight men playing gay men wearing shiny pants and dancing on tippy toes.
I hope I'm on my 2nd trimester already. HCG should be gone by then so the hurling will ideally take a vacation until the next baby comes on board. It's weird that I always feel the queasiest at 5:00 PM. Yes, morning sickness is a misnomer. I want to have a huge belly and enjoy a moving baby sans the hurling.
If you've never been pregnant or are biologically male, I just have one thing to say to you: Back off. Pregnant lady attacks. (That's more than one thing...BUT BACK OFF!)
