ambivert acting like an extrovert prefers introversion

Time.com posted the article "The Upside Of Being An Introvert (And Why Extroverts Are Overrated)" by Time's Tokyo Bureau chief Bryan Walsh and I realized that there's nothing wrong with feeling uncomfortable with large social activities involving at least 90% (okay, 50%) strangers. For the most part of my life, I had to learn to camouflage this semi-aversion to socializing by joining organizations & groups centered on something I particularly love, such as music or science.  Small group talks with people I trust or family are, understandably, exceptions to this semi-aversion.  My mother recognized my unusual interests as a young girl (star trek, paul mccartney, classical music, egon spengler, not going out, mini mouse t shirts, etc) and encouraged...coerced me to join a youth group. On hindsight, I'm grateful to my mother for that, because the day that she took me to a youth group meeting was the day I met my husband. Interesting strings of the universe, might I say.

Proud introvert...oxymoronic-ish.
