Flagellate our Pride (excuse the graphic title)

...because most of the time, we pray to achieve what we do not have. Like humility. It's hard to possess it. Right? Internally, you want to tell yourself, I deserve this or that. Yet, there is a proper season and time for experiencing affirmation or justice. The important thing to do is to do what we ought to do based on our vocation--and that we do it as if it was the most important thing in the world. Whether in washing the dishes, writing that report, spending time with your family, or going to an appointment--every moment counts. Every moment spent is a moment of the past. We cannot buy any second back--if spending a moment means swallowing our pride and letting humility succeed so that we are able sleep well during the remaining nights we have in the world (regardless how many we still have)...then it's worth it. Sounds morbid LOL (why did I just LOL like I'm from the Addams Family?). Well, if that sounded morbid then you haven't been reading this blog since 2006. I don't necessarily suggest that one should start reading this blog's posts from the 2006--I tend to say "ew" to my own posts. Yet when I occasionally revisit the "ew" posts...it's a reminder that I'm living an examined life. Socrates would be proud.

To recap: Humility is hard. Doable, but hard.
