Self-Protection and the Visceral Reaction
I would like to quote the Latin proverb written on the Wikipedia page from which I obtained the image above: Pelle sub agnina latitat mens saepe lupina (Under a sheep's skin often hides a wolfish mind).
It's not the fifth of November, but I suddenly have an earworm...Remember, remember the fifth of November. I saw V for Vendetta a couple of weeks ago. I think my focus was on the word remember.
What is the motivation for today's post? I just wanted to remind myself to be wary of the proverbial (and biblical) wolf in sheep's clothing. When the hairs on my skin stand up, it is a literal visceral reaction to a triggering stimulus. Perhaps an environment or individual that unlocks a password-protected file folder in my limbic system that opens a series of unpleasant memories causing unpleasant physical and emotional responses. I ask God and the Universe, why? I don't know what I did to the cosmos this time, but if I could please be far from entities with clout who only seem to want to inflict harm...and do it stylishly and in a strategic gaslighting manner...that would be great. I am tired. I just want to do what I ought to do and live peacefully. That is all. End of cryptic cyber soliloquy.
I do hope you enjoyed the artwork, well, it's a little disturbing...
