Not so wee hours of the morning
Today’s theme songs: “Another Day” by Paul McCartney and “In the wee small hours” by Frank Sinatra.

I woke up this Sunday morning and started my day ahead of everyone at home. I went down and turned on the heating, because today’s forecast says it’ll be cloudy with a range of 3-9 degrees Celsius. I set up the coffee maker and checked the freezer. There’s a half-pack of toaster apple strudels with a ‘Best Before’ date of November 2023…my breakfast has been decided. I only toasted 2 and kept the other 2 in the freezer. The combined smell of coffee and pastry was delightful. I put back all of last night’s dishes to their storage, while I waited for my breakfast. I dried a newly cleaned cookie jar with a tea towel so I can refill it with store-bought butter cookies that my family enjoys. I placed my pair of toaster strudels on a large white plate and began to open the tiny packets of sugar glaze that came with it. I squeezed the packets and made little zigzag designs above the strudels, which slowly began to melt from the heat and made my breakfast look shiny and delectable. Poured coffee in my mug. Sat down, said grace, and ate slowly. I didn’t turn on my phone nor read a magazine. Still, it was quick—I was clearly hungry. I cleaned up my dishes and filled the cookie jar with butter cookies.
