Off to the city of trees

The melancholia and nostalgia associated with the loss of kin is strange. It's certainly sad. I haven't been to the west coast in over 2 decades and I wish I were travelling the first few days this upcoming spring month for the purpose of leisure. The silver lining is the chance to see familiar faces...stating that made me think of the song Mad World.

In other news, I have been exploring alternative work spaces mainly from my alma mater. The cherry blossoms are in full bloom and as I was walking this morning, I saw a number of folks taking photos of the beautiful trees beside this big library building that I was about to enter. Cherry blossoms are supposed to represent mortality...a fleeting existence.

So I raise my imaginary glass to the brevity of life. What a time to be alive. What a wonderful realization.
