the mantra: say it with me

Beware the Ides of March....April, May, June, July....heck, everyday of each year (leap or not). The seemingly "holier than thou" deserve the same treatment as a person who is the first to discover the crime scene: the first suspect. I just realized that it's okay that a handful of people think I'm some uptight, scary monster person.

So remember that: I am not stupid. And, unfortunately, I inherited my mother's very heightened sense of intuition. To my demise.

Feeling Carla Bruni-ish

Oh curtsy curtsy, niceties, then the toodle-loos. Until it becomes habitual.
At the end of the day, living at Elysee Palace makes it all worth the robotics.

perfect

Most people want to stand out. I, on the other hand, prefer to blend in. It's more comfortable.

Eowyn was better than Arwen

Aragorn: You have some skill with a blade.
Eowyn: The women of this country learned long ago, those without swords can still die upon them. I fear neither death nor pain.
Aragorn: What do you fear, my lady?
Eowyn: A cage. To stay behind bars until use and old age accept them and all chance of valor has gone beyond recall or desire.
Aragorn: You are a daughter of kings, a shield maiden of Rohan. I do not think that will be your fate.

A colleague from another department reminded me how Eowyn was a much smarter woman than Arwen. Well, Aragorn has his reasons only Tolkien will ever understand.

dispassionate and unapologetic

i was once criticized for over-scanning my environment yet i am also being made aware that i'm insensitive. you know what? i never intended to be either. i just do what i'm supposed to do. all within the bounds of reason and morality. WYSIWYG. merci beaucoup.

Au contraire

If the population of females were assumed to be normally distributed or had a more-or-less predictable pattern when it comes to certain variables...I'm an outlier. I will destroy all forms of female typecasts. Iron will. *evil laugh*

i should be so lucky

Despite the stiff and jaded facade, I have a tiny central core of vulnerability that needs a little bit of assistance. I brainwashed myself into believing that I'm independent and capable of things on my own to the point where I forget that I'm not invincible. Interestingly, my husband sees that and assists me. I'd always tell him that he had the loser portion of the bargain by marrying me and he'd always get irritated. But that's the truth of how I feel. Although he would like it better if I were 'sweet.' I'm not a PDA person because I do not subscribe to the notion that affection should be flamboyantly paraded about like some free public show. I only have momentary bouts of 'touchy feely' if I accidentally physically hurt someone or when I'm intoxicated. So, having someone endure my insensitivity is a curiosity to me.

on snowflakes and fingerprints

Diversity must be embraced. Genetic variation to produce unique and highly fit individuals is the mechanism in play. So let us not think for a moment that the world works just like a scene from the Clone Wars where the goal is to create exact copies of dispensable star troopers. That's why in a social unit there must be a leader, doctor, plumber, teacher, grave digger, etc. And in the olden, feudal times, apprenticeship was taken into serious account...specialization. That's why right now, I'm slowly becoming unattracted to fads or mass reproduced clothing or aping...it's a sign of complacency, of laziness...to question, to scrutinize. It's a sign of the decline of one's individuality. Think outside the box. Be the piece of the puzzle you were meant to be.
