i'd like to scream at the top of my lungs

...what the hell is SHE doing in the united states? and what the hell are the congressmen doing in the united states?

....obviously, they went there to see Manny Pacquiao box. Probably using our country's budget from taxes or whatever under-the-table scheme. I don't really care how they got there but what they did was inappropriate. So, one of the benefits of being in the house of representatives is a luxury trip to the US with your relatives en masse. GARAPALAN NA 'TO.

....The American ass-kissing should at least be discrete. Geez, and setting an appointment with Bill Clinton and Barrack Obama is being a bit too excited and partial right? What if....what if he didnt' win? (Hypothetically) Don't tell me she'll start scheduling an audience with the other party? AAAARGH.

....meanwhile, relatives of the capsized MV Princess of the Stars continue to mourn and hope to recover the already bloated cadavers of their loved ones. I've learned that the coast guards are still studying how to go about the mission. You know what? just lift the f*cking ship using cranes attached to big cargo ships parked at Manila bay and recover the putrefying bodies somewhere else. We don't need imported divers to look inside cabins and report to us what we already know: that there are bloated dead bodies inside the ship! And now we're concerned about the health of those divers so we religiously monitor their vitals right after diving.

Excuse me, there's clearly a huge contradiction here! This is CRIMINAL NEGLECT! I'm sure you, madam president, will have a seat somwhere in any of the circles of hell. Whether you were wrongly advised or are just plain stupid, you seem to have your priorities twisted.

pseudo-segue:

On the day of Manny Pacquiao's fight, the crime rate in the Philippines was remarkably low. Apparently, the criminals were in the states, watching the fight....ring side....with a little bemoled woman.

bored

...out of my wits

18 June 2008

prolonged agony

the suture of where my wisdom tooth used to be is not dissolvable

half of it was untangled and is freely hanging at the back of my mouth

the gag reflex occasionally happens

i'm itching to just pull it out myself

only the thought of possibly pulling out other organs with it is what's stopping me

the dentist's office is not open on wednesdays---and today is wednesday

officially devoid of wisdom

(image from goodbyewisdomteeth.com)

My last wisdom tooth was finally yanked out of my jaw forever. The eruption of the 3rd molar at my left upper jaw commenced last thursday night. It felt uncomfortable. Come friday morning, I had to start taking pain medication because I was having difficulty opening my mouth.

This morning: the left side of my face was swollen! I had to take at least 500mg of mefenamic acid to numb the pain! I needed to go to the dentist ASAP. By 11am, it was gone.

But the trauma.... I take pride in the fact that my pain tolerance is high, but dental procedures are just painful! I'd rather recover from a c-section! I'm serious...not funny...I cried this afternoon. Thank you dentist/orthodontic surgeon for prescribing me with 550mg of Naproxen. It numbs perfectly! But I can still taste the blood....oh, the horror.

Entomophagy

An article in the recent Time magazine discussed the advantages of eating insects as an alternative source of protein. Insects are ubiquitous and very nutritious so perhaps transforming the ick factor into something more positive can prove helpful in answering food crises and saving the planet. Meat production contributes significantly to air emissions so that entomophagy may be truly earth-friendly after all.(image from www.teachersource.com)
Thai cuisine has already been using insects (like crickets and waterbugs) in their dishes, so it wouldn't be surprising if fusion fanatics imbibe this concept. I wouldn't mind eating insect-based dishes, as long as I have complete knowledge of the preparation....and that the insects were farmed.

Araw ng Kalayaan

...Independence Day (June 12)

Shet

stresstabs & sugar

I wrote my post last tuesday prior to being temporarily tranquilized into happy-happy-joy-joyness by a delectable bowl of modified banana split. My sister's boyfriend and my brother's girlfriend went to the house and we all decided to go on a sugar binge. So we all had two scoops of double dutch ice cream with blueberry sauce, cherries, marshmallows & bananas. It may sound weird but it was fantastic! Before going to bed, I took one stresstab (vitamin C & vitamin B complex) and when I woke up early next morning, I felt rejuvenated.

...until I entered the halls of hell and once again ventured into the teacher's training hustle and bustle.

It's saturday and I feel good. Three-day weekend. I deliberately did not bring home any work-related material as I must recharge and equip myself with the greatest possible energy in order to begin this semester. My itinerary:

Spongebob and Playhouse Disney
Bee movie
Monsters Inc.
Sleep
Sugar
Retail therapy

(300 soundtrack...) Ahoo ahoo!

what a wonderful day--not

Our office was assigned once again to organize a week-long training/seminar for beginning teachers (1-2 years of service) in science (elementary & high school). Here are some reasons why I'm pissed:

1) No budget: actually, the Department of Education promised that our expenses will be reimbursed. But we're feeling the burden already, what with the food, handouts, ID, printer ink, electricity, etc...on top of the price increase in fuel and electricity in the country.

2) Never ending registration: there's an increase in the number of participants per day. Many of them were not informed properly, while others were just a bit too opportunistic. What I meant about some participants being opportunistic is that they've attended the training about 3 weeks ago plus a handful of these teachers are not beginning teachers. By the way, registration and participation is free.

3) Some inconsiderate colleagues from the other departments: Okay, we're from the biology department...the training involves mentors from physics, chemistry, and earth science...many were cooperative and provided us with copies of their teaching materials for reproduction (yes, we're in-charge of that as well, to our chagrin), while some were too protective of their intellectual property. And when the participants complain about non-existent or late handouts, who are they to blame? Yes, you guessed it. I just hope that the reason why they behave like that is because they have NO IDEA how freaking stressed out and BROKE we all are in our side of this forsaken institution.
And being treated like a dirt-cheap slave by your own colleague is just undignified.

4) Never ending complaints, long days: the stress is concretizing in my face. I'm breaking out like there's no tomorrow! My face is slowly becoming a zit colony.

...and all I want to do right now is stay at home with my husband and son.

(Thanks to my husband for helping out this afternoon with the handout reproduction and other stuff)

survive, learn to...

(ten count junky album cover)
I experienced a pride swallowing siege today.
Useful tip: couple pride swallowing with an I-don't-give-a-flying-f*ck-anyway grin and you'll instantly feel better. A lovely glass of screwdriver or any hard liquor-spiked beverage would be fabulous right now.
